Application for Fine Art Portrait Commission

and Inclusion in Randal Ford’s Book of Dog Portraits

In the Fall of 2020, Rizzoli New York will be publishing Randal Ford's second book for worldwide distribution. The book will be a follow up to the bestseller, The Animal Kingdom, which explored the emotional bond we experience with animals of all kinds. This upcoming collection of portraits will have a singular focus: the unequaled relationship and connection we share with man's best friend.

As part of this project, Ford has reserved a limited number of spots in the book for fine art clients who also want their dog to be included in the book. This is a one-time, one-breed opportunity to be in the book. It’s an exclusive chance to immortalize the deep bond you have with your dog in a fine art portrait.  The portrait will also be included in a book that will be published worldwide and showcased at the renowned Rizzoli stores in New York and Milan, Italy.

As currently envisioned, the book will feature only one dog per breed (click here for a list of dog breeds already taken). However, if you have one of these breeds and believe your pet is exceptional, please submit a picture and description below. We’ll consider all serious applications. Also to note, we love all mixed breed dogs, so please submit those as well.

Commissioned Fine Art Portraits

The $5,000 commission will include:

  1. An archival fine art portrait up to 30X40 inches, unframed.

  2. The celebrity photo shoot experience, as seen in the video below

  3. An exclusive, coveted spot in Ford's upcoming book published by Rizzoli New York

  4. A signed, advance copy of the dog book

  5. A donation in your name to our soon to be announced, philanthropic partner.

Shoot Logistics

This book project for Rizzoli affords the opportunity to shoot multiple portraits at once, including commissions, which allows Ford to create this opportunity. The cost of commissioned portraits will be significantly reduced, but the quality of the fine art piece and the experience of being in studio will not. Clients and their pets will be part of a professional celebrity photo shoot.

Ford will be in the following cities during the Summer of 2019 for two days each and has a limited number of spots available in each day:  Austin, Dallas, San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles. These spots are limited, so the quality of your experience is not.

If you are outside one of these cities and would like to discuss a custom photo shoot, Randal Ford can travel to you for an additional fee.

The application for the book will be closed on July 1, 2019

If you would like to apply, please fill out the form below and we will be in touch!

At the Community First Village gala this Spring, we auctioned off two studio photoshoots that included a guaranteed spot in Randal Ford's upcoming book of Dog portraits. We are so humbled and excited to help raise money for Community First Village. Thank you to the generous donors! Their beautiful dogs will be featured prominently in the book!
