Name: Alfonzo

Photographer notes: While on assignment for Audubon magazine I was working with a rescue organization in Corpus Christi, TX that was helping rehab birds affected by the gulf oil spill. Alfonzo was on site and had already been cleaned up and on his way back to good health. For our shoot, he received large sardines and other fish for treats. If you’ve never seen a pelican eat a fish, it’s amazing how much their beak can expand to accommodate the fish it consumes.
