In the world of magnificent Longhorns, Dante's story stands as a testament to resilience. Almost robbed of his world-record horns by a fluke crack in horns, he defied fate so to speak.  Yet, thanks to daring innovation at Texas A&M's Large Animal Hospital and the impetus of Austin Zoo’s leadership, Dante's horn was meticulously pieced together—a combination of traditional and experimental surgery.

With wires and fusing, they mended his horn's fracture, uncertain if they would ever heal back to normal. Fortunately, Dante's horns emerged from adversity stronger, and more majestic than before.  Albeit, imperfectly and beautifully asymmetrical.

Today, Dante's horns reach wide, inching closer to a world record. His journey echoes through the hill country—a tale of grit and healing, reminding us that even a crack can't break the spirit of a true legend.
