His owner put it perfectly. “Willys is goofy and noble. He is wise and somehow always has been.” Our beloved companions always manage to comprise a wide array of seemingly opposite characteristics-- goofy and noble, innocent and knowing, quiet and wise. Dogs are just as complex and full of emotional intricacies as humans. I still at times find myself surprised by their ability to know, to care, to offer themselves. But, the truth is, more often than not they do a better job than us humans.
