An exclusive portrait collection by Randal Ford
One of the most recognized animals in America. Photographed in a setting few have ever seen him.
Randal Ford is the only photographer to have photographed Bevo XV in a studio portrait setting. This collection brings together those portraits of the University of Texas Longhorns mascot, offered in strictly limited editions for collectors who want a rare and distinctive piece of Texas history.
I first photographed Bevo XV in 2016, when he was a young calf whose horns had yet to reveal their full span. Even then, I wanted to return and photograph the Longhorn he would become.
Nearly six years later, I had that opportunity. Under carefully shaped studio lighting, away from the stadium and the sidelines, I could reveal his character in a different way. The sweeping horns. The strength. The quiet confidence of an animal who needs no introduction.
Access like this is exceptional. It allowed me to create portraits with an intimacy and precision that would be impossible on game day. Every decision, from the lighting to the composition, served one purpose: give Bevo the presence he deserves.
Each variation offers a distinct interpretation of Bevo XV, united by the same deliberate approach to light, detail, and form. These are portraits made to hold a room, with a presence that becomes even more compelling at a large scale.
For University of Texas alumni, Longhorn supporters, and fine art collectors, the collection offers an opportunity to own an iconic subject photographed under extraordinary circumstances. Edition sizes range from twenty at the smallest scale to just two at the largest.
