Denizli Longcrower Rooster
Name: Duke
Photographer Notes: I created two portraits of Duke during my short time with him. The first was an unusual composition with his emerald tail feathers toward my camera and his ruby head looking back over his shoulder. The head tilt to the left and his back feathers tilting to the right created the perfect compositional juxtaposition while still maintaining a beautiful balance within the frame. Duke’s second portrait was quite a bit different. Duke liked to jump from our background lights onto the table where he was being photographed. I decided to run with it and set up my flash strobes so they would freeze action in its tracks. The end result was a beautifully alive and animated image. Duke looks like he is descending onto set like a superhero ready to fight and protect the coop.
