Despite her lion-like face, Nicky is 100% canine. In fact, Chow Chow’s are one of the oldest known living dog breeds, estimated to have originated in China as many as 2,000 years ago. The opportunity to come so close to these animals and contemplate the evolution of their origin, is one that I do not take for granted. Though we are lucky enough to have their presence be commonplace today, I think it is so very important to remind ourselves of the great journey that preceded and perfected them.
