Name: Amelia
Photographer Notes: The Pink Cockatoo is one of Australia's most beautifully colored birds, with soft salmon-pink plumage and a spectacular crest of crimson, yellow, and white.
This is Amelia. Like other cockatoos, she uses her crest to communicate, raising and lowering her feathers in response to excitement, curiosity, and the world around her. Throughout our shoot, this remarkable display kept everyone in the studio entertained.
But Amelia had another fascination: mirrors. She seemed endlessly interested in her own reflection, returning to admire herself whenever the opportunity arose.
Whether it was curiosity or vanity, I couldn't say. But given her appearance, I could hardly blame her.
