Juno
Blue Heeler Black Labrador Mix
For me, photographing these special companions was never just about capturing a quintessential cute face, though it’s definitely a perk. From the very beginning of this project, my heart has been one that deeply believes our dogs deserve to be seen for their stories, not just their good looks. As I stood above sweet Juno, I wasn’t entirely sure where the lens was taking me or why, but as I followed my intuition I began to see her in a way I wouldn’t have from straight on. Her perked ears, her poised head and shoulders and, for the first time, a set of eyes that I could not readily see. This image asks us to lean in closer, to look upon it and to wonder what it is that Juno sees, that we do not.
